Jessica Lange was a major part of FX’s American Horror Story success last year, and will get the opportunity to carry the show’s upcoming season on her shoulders.

Lange has signed a deal with FX to star in American Horror Story: Season 2, one of four actors returning for the show’s sophomore outing and the only one creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are willing to divulge at this time. The other three will be revealed tomorrow during PaleyFest in Beverly Hills.

American Horror Story fans watched Lange stand out in the show’s inaugural season as Constance Langdon, a role that won the actress a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award. That memorable character has been shelved, and Lange will be playing an all-new character that Season 2′s narrative is built around. Whereas Lange shared the spotlight in Season 1 with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott, she’s the star attraction this time around.
